Dr. Holly and I have really been into juicing lately. We love the idea of juicing and LOVE how healthy it is for you, but we forget sometimes to juice. It's so easy and quick, i'm not sure why it gets neglected. Recently, we've had the need to juice because we have had such a great harvest from our garden, that we have had to juice the excess! That's a great problem to have!
Here's our garden's harvest today:
Isn't that exciting!? SO! We decided to JUICE! I'll show you a step by step guide on what we used to make this delicious and cleansing juice! If you have kids, they will love it! It truly does taste like really delicious juice! And it has lots of hidden goodies that you can't even taste! But it's a great way to get a mass quantity of veggie goodness and nutrients in a small portion! LOTS OF BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!
What you'll need:
Here's everything we used :)
A Juicer! :)
1-2 Organic Beets with tops
6-7 Large Organic Cucumbers
2 Organic Lemons
2 Small Organic Apples
1 Large Bunch of Swiss Chard
1 Large bunch of parsley
1 Large bunch of basil
1 Large bunch of mint (optional)
1 Small nub of ginger (optional)
1-2 Droperfuls of Liquid Stevia (optional)
Place cucumbers in juicer:
Place Lemons in juicer with some herbs (the liquid of the fruit helps blend up the herbs and chard leaves): *TIP: I peel the lemons and leave about 1/4 of rind on 1 of the lemons for flavor. If you add the whole lemon, it can get a bit bitter because of the rind.
Place all herbs in juicer with the apples:
Add the beets and swiss chard (you can add the ginger if you'd like):
I love the color the beets add!
Add everything else! There's no rhyme or reason to the order! Juice it all! This whole cutting board of veggies all went in our juicer. It made 2 Quart sized mason jars full! So it makes about 1/2 gallon of Juice! You can totally cut this recipe in half if you'd like. You can also add stevia if you'd like :)
You'll end up with THIS beautiful liquid that tastes like a light and refreshing lemonade:
